What a group of great entertainers we have at the 2010 True Country Music Festival, held  June. 18th/ 19th at the True Country Music Ranch near Princeton, Minnesota! there will be wonderful songs, fancy instrumentals, cowboy poetry and crazy antics.

    Bill & Mary Lou True, your festival host & hostess, are long-time event producers as well as performers of traditional country music.  They'll share their varied repertoire of country favorites, with such tunes as "Jackson," "I'm a Robot," "Shutters & Boards," "I Heard the Bluebird Sing" and many more will sure to tickle your country music fancy. In 1970/1971 they received the Minnesota Gazetta" award for BEST MALE & FEMALE Singing DUO. Native Minnesotans, they've performed around the USA and even in Austria and Ireland.  You'll be "welcome as the flowers" at their True Country Music Festival!

Terry Smith, a singer/songwriter with several memorable songs to his credit, comes to us from Nashville, Tennessee.  He's best known for his "Far-side Banks of Jordan," recorded by such artists as Johnny Cash and June Carter, The Statler Brothers, the Cox Family and many, many more well known artists.  We guarantee he'll capture your heart with his soulful songs, all as country as you can get. Red Johnson, from Champlin, Minnesota, has been performing and writing songs since the mid-1960s, when his "There's a Grand Ol' Opry Show Playing Somewhere" was released on Capitol Records.  Red-headed Red is a hit with anyone who enjoys heartfelt songs about love, veterans, mom, and other such all-American subjects. Miss Betty Rydell,’ is an introduction that has been heard in clubs, fairs, conventions, theaters, churches, radio and television throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Central America.  Singing a variety of songs and playing nine musical instruments, Betty has performed with Barbara Mandrell, Charlie Pride, Conway Twitty, Ernest Tubb, Tex Ritter, Carl Perkins, Marvin Rainwater and LeRoy Van Dyke plus other name performers.  Betty has won the coveted Entertainer of the Year Award presented by the Country Entertainers Association of the Upper Midwest


JAngie Senger

Singer/songwriter Angie Senger has been wowing audiences since she began singing professionally at age 15.  Senger made her way through night clubs, state and county fairs, dinner clubs as well as hotel circuits.  Now embracing the country music genre, you can catch Senger with her band, Gold Rush, at an American Legion or a VFW where they have a large following of people who love to dance.  An accomplished musician and songwriter, you can hear several of her original songs, written in the “Classic Country” style, on her four CDs.  Appearing frequently at the Midwest Country Music Theater in Sandstone, MN, she has fronted for the likes of Stonewall Jackson, Janie Fricke, Gene Watson and David Frizzell.  She is featured regularly on Nashville’s RFD-TV .

   Jeannie and Jerome
Exquisite harmonies, top-notch musicianship and on-stage fun,and unique stylings add spice & originality to a wide variety of lively tunes, pop standards, and early rock ‘n’ roll.  They may throw in a classic country number or two, if the crowd wants it, and sprinkle in a little cowboy poetry - from Jerome in western finery - that he’ll put on just for the occasion.  They can also play western swing favorites.  

Their favorite music, though is their continually developing original material - a diverse offering of instrumental and vocal songs covering a variety of topics.

For several years they have been know as Call of the West, and have played western music festivals around the country, and the world.  Although they have deep roots in the western music  genre, they also enjoy performing may other styles.  Besides both singing lead and harmony vocals, they possess formidable instrumental skills.

	Jerome is the 2006 Merle Travis National Thumb-picking Champion, Jeanne is the 2008 Western Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year.  She was also nominated for the 2008 Western Music Association Female Vocalist of the Year, and they were both nominated for 2008 WMA Duo/Group of the Year.  

	Jeanne & Jerome have performed together for twenty years, and will play a variety of instruments, including: guitars, mandolin, steel guitar, concertina, and harmonica.  (No pre-recorded tracks for their show - they play all their instruments live on stage!)

	Jeanne and Jerome regularly appear at western music festivals, acoustic live music events of all kinds, community get-togethers, schools, libraries, RV resorts and rallies across the U.S. and abroad.  They have been featured on RFD-TV’s “Midwest Country Theater” and “Best of America by Horseback”, and have also worked as harmony singers and backup musicians for a number of western and country performers, including legendary country music star Lynn Anderson - when she performs at western music festivals.  Jeanne & Jerome also produce recordings for a variety of artists as well.  

	Their own recording projects include two duo albums, two classic country albums with their good friends, Tex & Mary Schutz, a solo original music album by Jeanne, a gospel album and a solo thumb-picking album by Jerome.  They are currently working on a new project together, and another solo project by Jeanne.   They are members of the Oklahoma Arts Council and Mid-America Arts Alliance touring rosters, and travel the country and the world, entertaining and teaching youngsters of all ages with their music.  Besides the winter 08-09 tour, Jeanne & Jerome recently returned from six weeks in New Zealand this past December ‘08 and January ‘09 with Tex & Mary Schutz.

Vern Bishop
I started singing when I was a young boy and continued during the time I served in the Army in 1966.  One of my greats thrills was singing a couple Hank Williams' song on the stage of the Rhyman Auditorum for a tour group. I have opened shows for Stonewall Jackson, Narvell felts, Porter Wagner, Gene Wartson and more.

 

MCs for the True Country Music Festival include Rich Bellert (in photo at right), a talented cowboy poet from Excelsior, MN, who has performed at the Midwest Country Theatre in Sandstone, MN, and at events across the northern Midwest and in South Texas.

      JIM MASON,   is an accomplished singer and bass player.
He has performed regularly at local night clubs,  VFW's,
Legions,  parties and jam sessions since the early 60's.
He is currently the lead singer and bass player for the
classic country band "BRANDY CREEK". Jim has worked
with bands that have played a variety of styles like blues,
rock & roll,  rockabilly and country.  He enjoys singing
classic country because every song has a story to tell.
Jim will be accompanied by his wife Betty on several duets.


 
                                                          Phyllis Hummel

Phyllis Marie Hummel Singing Kitty Wells songs Recorded a CD. Has performed with several bands Featured at the South Dakota Country Music Hall Of Fame, and the True Country Music Festival Has her own band called "Singing Country". Phyllis has sang with Sherwin Linton, and also at the South Dakota State Fair.

 

 
 Bruce & Elaine are recipients of the "Best Country Singer" awards by the National Traditional Country Music Association 2007 & 2008 and members of "America’s Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame". As one fan wrote "Bruce sounds more like Willie than Willie" and "If you close your eyes when Elaine is singing you’ll think Patsy is right there". The Nelson show is filled with energy, impeccable classic country style and just enough family-style humor to tickle your funny-bone.

                                                                          Greg Hager

An easy-going country style with melodic and meaningful lyrics.” That is how many describe the songs that Greg Hager writes and sings. His performances are an enjoyable mix of original music and stories. He was raised on a grain and dairy farm southwest of Valley City, ND, and like most farm kids, his childhood was spent working and playing. He says that almost all people want the same things, and that is why people relate so well to his songs about love, life, and living. The inspirations for his music come from his own experiences and also from the experiences of others.Hager has recorded two all-original music albums in Nashville, TN. “Daydream” has a reflective feel to it, and “A Century Too Late” highlights western and cowboy songs.  He will be releasing an original gospel album in December. Hager stays busy performing at festivals, fairs, and other feature performances

 

Sharon Lee was born in Mpls, MN. and has been singing since she was 3yrs old. Sharon has worked with the late Chill Helmin in his band, and  with other local musicians. She has been a regular member of Midwest Country Music theater since it's beginning in 1992. Sharon formed with her own
 band in 1986 and has performed in Minnesota and Wisconsin at local VFW's and Legions, and many private parties. Sharon's interest in country music stems from her father's involvment in music, when he and his sister sang together and toured with Slim
